Michael Mack accepted the prestigious award at the National Pawnbrokers Association Annual Awards Ceremony in Las Vegas.
Southlake, TX – The National Pawnbrokers Association (NPA) is pleased to name Max Pawn as the 2019 recipient of the NPA Outstanding Community Relations Award. Michael Mack, of Las Vegas-based Max Pawn, accepted the award at the Annual Awards Luncheon on July 9, 2019. The event was held at The Mirage in Las Vegas during Pawn Expo 2019, the only national convention and trade show for the pawn industry.
From pets to people, Mr. Mack tries to touch as many lives as possible in the Las Vegas community by raising money – and the bar – through creative philanthropic endeavors. Mr. Mack and Max Pawn’s extensive community relations activities are frequently covered in television, print, and online media platforms. Michael’s work to promote pawn in the Las Vegas community has provided local and national news stories with a pawn-positive message.
During the government shutdown in early 2019, Mr. Mack offered furloughed federal workers interest free loans. This effort was covered in the New York Times and on television’s Inside Edition. He also participated in an event called “Open Up,” which was held to aid government workers and their families during the shutdown. Max Pawn is a supporter of the Make-A-Wish foundation of Southern Nevada and contributes by walking with many of his staff in the fundraiser, “Walk-For-Wishes,” as well as hosting a “Handbag of the Month” program which donates a high-end handbag every month to benefit the organization.
In 2018, Max Pawn held a fundraising event, “Bags and Bubbles,” which was targeted at raising awareness and financial support for homeless youth in Las Vegas, NV. Mr. Mack co-sponsors an annual “Ugly Sweater” contest with a portion of the proceeds benefitting “Dress for Success,” with a focus on empowering women to achieve economic independence. Max Pawn’s “Doggie Date Valentines” raised funds for Noah’s Animal House, which provides care to animals of battered women. Max Pawn also hosted an NHL Golden Knights autograph event providing inspirational meet-and-greets with hockey stars Nate Schmidt and Ryan Reaves.
The Outstanding Community Relations Award was created in 2015 and is presented to an NPA Pawnbroker or Affiliate member company who advances the standard and quality of life in their community through public service or volunteerism.
