MAINE PAWNBROKERS ASSOCIATION

Maine Pawn Shops are licensed and regulated either by local municipalities or the state. Pawnbrokers must obtain a license from their city or town. The local municipalities have been given regulatory authority over pawnbrokers by the State Bureau of Consumer Credit Protection, however, if the pawnbroker does not have a city or town license, then they must obtain a Supervised Lender license from the state. Maine Pawn Statutes are publicly available on the Maine.gov website under Title 30-A, c. 183, Subchapter VI. Click the link below to view.
